Windows Vista, Windows Mail...

When I click Create Mail the new e-mail message frame opens but freezes
before it finishes loading.

I suspect the problem is rooted in the application it is trying to use to
create the new e-mail (For example: XP Office Word, Office 2003 Word or a
basic text editor like Word Pad). These apps do run correctly independently
of Windows Mail.

The other reason I suspect this is the problem is in Windows Mail if I click
Tools\Options\Compose, Windows Mail also freezes.

In addition to any other suggestions on how to resolve this issue, is there
any other way to change the default e-mail text editor in Windows Mail
without being able to access the Compose tab in Windows Mail? A registry key
perhaps?

Thank you in advance for your help.

No, you can't change the text editor in Windows Mail.

A few people have reported unusual slowness with some Windows Mail
functions. A couple of those say they got temporary relief by opening
Windows Calendar from within Windows Mail, and then closing Windows
Calendar.

You might also try temporarily uninstalling your antivirus program, just
to see if that makes a difference.

Gary...

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately your suggestions didn't work but I
did figure out the problem - too many contacts. As soon as I deleted many of
the contacts the problem disappeared.

Plus, after I deleted a large portion of the old e-mail it ran even better.

Perhaps too many addresses and too much e-mail is causing other problems
that are posted here as well.

I thought this post might help others that may be trying to resolve unusual
Windows Mail issues.

Thanks for the feedback.
Windows Mail seems to be overly burdened down when the number of
contacts gets large.
Also, it is never a good idea to accumulate large quantities of mail in
the standard system folders (Inbox, Sent Items, etc.).
