Windows Mail crashes. Message "...has stopped working"

After opening and reading an attachment from one e-mail, the app crashes when
I try to open a second attachment in the same e-mail, or if I try to open an
attachment in another message. After the crash, I can reopen the app and I
get identical performance. Is something still running? Task manager does not
seem to indicate so.

Let me guess, you are running Norton antivirus.
That is a known issue caused by a recent update to Norton antivirus.
There may be a newer update that corrects the problem, so
first try updating Norton. If no joy, uninstall and follow up with their
debris removal tool:

Thanks Gary for the tip. Norton installed a new version...no charge...and the
problem is rectified. Great!!!

I've heard that Norton Antivirus 2009 is good.
