What are the differences btwn windows vista mail adn such and outlook, can
these windows programs sync with pda's and such

Windows Mail is a fairly basic email client program which is
included with Vista. Outlook has to be bought separately, and
it has quite a few other functions (appointments, scheduling, etc.)
besides email. Although Vista includes a Calendar and Contacts,
they are not integrated with Windows Mail to the extent that
Outlook does it. Windows Mail doesn't sync with PDAs.

what does it sync with then under the option to sync all

My understanding is that the "Sync all" feature refers only to downloading
newsgroup messages.

I was looking at the specs for the new Windows Mobile Device Center for
Vista, and it states that Outlook 2003 or 2007 is required for synchronization
of e-mail, contacts, tasks and notes to a PC, see
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/devicecenter.mspx
