Bewildered

Hi all.

My problem is that whenever a friend of mine sends me an email, Windows Mail
shuts down and I am unable to read the email in time. This has only happened
with this one person. Mind you I used to receive her emails with no problem
in the past. I don't know why this is happening now. I don't have any
problems with anyone elses emails, only this friend.

Is anyone else having this problem.

Hope someone can help.

Kind regards,

Which antivirus are you running? Some of them cause problems with
Windows Mail over time.

As a minimum, email scanning in the antivirus should be turned off,
although that may not be sufficient to eliminate all bad effects.
In a worst case scenario, your antivirus may need to be uninstalled.

Email scanning in any antivirus should be disabled, for reasons
explained here:

If no improvement after disabling email scanning, consider upgrading
to Windows Live Mail, because it is less prone to suffering bad effects
from overly intrusive antivirus programs:

Hi Gary

Thanks for getting back to me on this issue.

The anti-virus program I'm running is CA Security Centre. I disabled the
email scanning like you suggested, however, it didn't work. The program shut
down again and then restarted. I managed to delete the incoming email that
was causing the problem and am now running Mozilla Thunderbird which seems to
work fine with my friend's incoming email.

I am assuming that the Windows Mail problem is just something that Microsoft
need to work on and fix in future versions/upgrades.

Thanks again for your time.

Kind regards,
