Windows Mail auto-selects a message when I click on a newsgroup, why?

When I click on any newsgroup name, an old post will immediately get
selected, and then WM downloads messages and headers, forcing the current
view to scroll down as new messages are downloaded and displayed about it.

Is there something I could set or change to make the behavior more like
Outlook Express?

That annoyance is by design unfortunately, it has been bugged with M$, so we
all have to sit back, suffer & wait.

Because they programmed it to do it that way and decided that none of the
beta testers complaining about it were correct.

Or worth listening to.
