I think it is absolutely non-sense for Micrsosoft to have removed the
capability to integrate your Hotmail onto your Win Mail. I used to use
Outlook Express which worked fine since I like to download all my Hotmail
onto my local computer since I have a lot of attachments. Now, I need to log
on to Hotmail (or Live Mail) everytime and it's a waste of time; I can't just
let my "Outlook Express" take care of things anymore... 1 boo for
Microsoft... I expect a lot more boos to come as I explore further into
Vista...

I agree completely about msn mail. I have various e-mail accounts and it is a
big inconvenience to use separate programs to open mail. I thought Microsoft
was supposed to make things easier for us to use!

It's the 'old bottom line.' You don't see all the ads when you download the
email to OE or Windows Mail. Get gmail. They allow you to use OE or Windows
mail.

I use a FREE program called HotPop.
make sure you get the correct one.

Download Windows Live Mail desktop (WLMd). The developers of Outlook
Express built Windows Mail for Vista and the next iteration is called WLMd.
It is very similar to Windows Mail and OE and provides full HTTP access to
Hotmail and MSN accounts with one small catch. If you are using a free
Hotmail account it displays ads, if you are using a paid Hotmail or MSN
account it is ad free. You can download WLMd here:

If you want to read about the history of the progression from OE to Windows
?Mail to WLMd check out the WLMd Blog here:

Google's email
Sign up and send them your cell phone number. They text message you back and
apparently you're in.

or get invited by someone.

All good and dandy except with WLMd you have to put up with all those !@#$
ads along the sides. Why can't they just leave what works alone. The
developers need to just make Windows Mail work like WLMd without the ads and
let the user be able to download their Hotmail account to the desktop.

You can get the Windows Live Mail Desktop BETA application to download
Hotmail onto your desktop. However beware, it’s a pseudo desktop
application -it stores email on your hard drive; but you need to *login* to
Hotmail through a flash screen to access your downloaded emails off your
hard disk! So - no internet! no email!! And a huge ad on the side to
compensate for the ads you will miss on their website.
