I'm currently running windows XP SP2 and recently noticed my network traffic
is being blocked. I'm trying to figure out what's causing this. First off,
i'm running Zone Alarm with my subnet as a trusted network. All of my
traffic is coming from the trusted network. Still no luck. even when i
shutdown the zonealarm, i get the same results. I can't ping or do
anything.

Next, i tried running nmap on my machine. The only port that shows up is
port 139. The Windows Firewall is not running.

Next, i'm using a linksys router. I tried restarting it. I also tried
loading FWbuilder on the router to explicitly make a rule that allows
traffic between the computers. Still nothing changed. All outbound traffic
to the internet and internal network works great.

The only other thing that could be affecting this is VMWare which creates a
NAT network for network clients.

Does anyone have any advise to track this problem down? Thanks!!

I would suspect that VMWare is not your issue. Are you sure that you
are being blocked and this is not a routing issue. are you able to get
any network connectivity anywhere?. If so where.

I am able to do anything outbound on this computer, and i am able to get
into windows file shares (port 139) on this computer, but no other port is
open. I am able to get around the internal network from anywhere just fine
as well.

One other tidbit of information. A port scan from the computer on itself
reveals normal open ports (139, 445, 3389, etc).
