Had problems with Publisher on PC (Maxdata, 256; Windows
XP Professional) - about two weeks after PC arrived,
tried to edit story in Word got the error
message 'Windows is low on memory, close all other
applications'. Problem was that this error had not
occurred in the previous two weeks, and no other
applications were open. Also, hard drive/floppy drive
began to make 'grinding' noise.
Supplier replaced PC with Fijitsu Siemens 512. During
first two weeks it was fine (very fast, etc.), but now
the same problem has occurred. Can't swap from Publisher
to Word to edit a story (get low on memory error message)
and drives have begun to 'grind' and slow down.
What is the problem here - please help!

If the problem occurs only in Microsoft Word then try deleting or
renaming the normal.dot document template file.

A corrupted normal.dot file is known to cause a similar problem with
Microsoft Word in Windows 95/98/Me.

Word will automatically create a new normal.dot file next time you
launch the program.

Good luck
