I know this has been posted 100 times, but no one has shown an easy
fix.

"The software you are installing has not passed Windows Logo testing to
verify it's compatibility with Windows XP"

First - I'm sort of a novice - so dumbing it down will help.

Second - I've tried to install some things as instructed and it usually
says a later version already exists.

I see XPsp - sp2, and IE 6.0.2900 when I look at properties.

Is there an EASY and effective way to fix this error?

Thanks so much!

What software are you trying to install?

Some things = what, exactly?

You haven't entirely explained what the error is, yet. :)

That simply means MS hasn't specifically tested and verified it to work well
on the operating system. In reality it means it's software not made by MS
most of the time. It's an effort to get you to stick with MS software
programs.

some things? Meaningless. Same with later version. In general, don't use
earlier verstions.

What error? You have not stated any particular error. The message is just
a message, not an error.

Yeah...I should have been more clear, thanks for the quick replies.

I am trying to install a MICROSOFT webcam: LifeCam VX-3000

It gets about 90% thru installation and then stops and gives me the
"The software you are installing has not passed Windows Logo testing to

I have checked the Microsoft site for fixes and such, but have had no
luck.

I tried to intall an IE patch that was recommended, but am hit with the
"you already have a later version installed" so I can't do that.

HELP!

Thanks again.

IMO, no big deal. The message simply means that MS has not tested the app/s
and therfore cannot be certain they are compliant with XP. In general, if
hte product data indicates it's made for XP, you'll be fine. It just
doesn't have the MS "stamp of approval" so to speak.

It's not anything you can "fix" or change around in any way.

It is more likely that the version of IE that you installed already has the
patch.
