How do get rid of the log in screen so that when I start-up windows, it will
run regularly without asking for a username and passowrd.

Start/Run type "cmd" press enter
In the command prompt box type "control userpasswords2" press enter
Uncheck "users must enter a user name and password to use this computer" and
click apply.
Click OK

You need to password protect your account and the administrator account.
Go to Control panel/User Account to assign passwords.

Sorry, replied to the wrong thread.
You need to enter the name of a user with administrator privileges.
