Windows Live One Care

Expect it for x86 by Vista launch. They have not said when it might be
available for x64 (that I have heard). That is kinda the reverse of what I
need because there seems to be more competitiors to choose from out there
for x86 than x64.

Thanks for the reply, Colin. Windows Live OneCare is available for x86
because I downloaded a trial version. I rather like it and was hoping for a
x64 version. What are you using for anti-virus? I can't seem to find one
that's available.

Did you look in the Security Center? That's where I found the free offers
to beta testers, like PC-cillin, which is what I am using on x64. I use AVG
on x86. CA has a free one-year offer in the Security Center also.

Avast is nice,
free too

Thanks for the replies and as mentioned earlier, Windows Live OneCare is not
available for Vista Ultimate (final or beta). I had a beta version of Norton
AV installed but I just don't like Norton. I now have Avast AV installed and
it seems fine. Thanks again.

Tom, from that same page........

"Can I use Windows Live OneCare with Windows XP or Vista x64 versions?"

Not at this time.

Ah I was only thinking of all 32-bit versions.

OneCare version 1.5 is available as a beta right now at http://ideas.live.com
for all falvors of Vista, including Ultimate, as long as they are x86.

Your question was not, "when will OneCare be available for Vista x64?" It was
when will OneCare be available for Vista Ultimate. Vista Ultimate is not only
x64.
OneCare is not going to be available for x64 at launch. There has not been any
announcement of x64 support for OneCare, unfortunately, so your best bet is to
look into the competition that does support x64.

Your question was not, "when will OneCare be available for Vista x64?" It
was
when will OneCare be available for Vista Ultimate. Vista Ultimate is not
only
x64.

Stephen B, since you're nit-picking......

Yes, but that is a reply you made after the original post. Your original post
was:
"When will Microsoft have Windows Live One Care for Vista Ultimate? Thanks."
Sorry if you thought of it as nit-picking, I was simply clarifying that Vista
Ultimate is not Vista x64 and that OneCare is indeed available for all version
of Vista x32.
