Is the above safe to use. I used it and developed troubles but it could have
been something I did near the same time. Trouble was 'windows has encountered
a problem and must shut down'. I used 'last known good configuration' and
things seem to be stable again.

Grampy Pete;

That depends on your knowledge level, particularly if you ran the registry
cleaner function of the Safety Scanner. In general I don't think running a
registry cleaner is appropriate for anyone other than a Registry expert. To
run one blindly and accept all recommended changes is quite risky, certainly
beyond whatever possible benefit you could hope to gain from running one in a
modern Operating System (XP or Vista.)

Apparently I have done something wrong; my problem here is I tainted the
communication. I cannot get but a white screen when I click on your
notification in Hotmail -I just came here and had to do a search. Before
whatever happened I just clicked on the notification and it directed me right
to you.
I have tried system restore to no avail. Last know configuration helped
straighten some things out but I still cannot solve the Hotmail to newsgroup
problem.
Another problem is that when I click on my search a "this page cannot be
displayed" pops up - when I click to close it, then the page I wanted appears.
Any ideas?
Thank you

Pete;

If you feel that changes made during your Safety Scanner registry cleanup
created the problems you’re now experiencing, you may be able to back them
out by using the procedure documented here:

http://boards.live.com/safetyboards/thread.aspx?threadid=4867

The only problem with this is that more changes you've made to the registry
in the interim, the less likely this is to work correctly.

I have about a dozen sites that I click on a notification in my Hotmail and
I'm directed to the post. Only here,recently do I have to search out the
post. When I click on a notice from win news group a white screen appears.
Tanx for any ideas anyone may have to offer.

Hello all who helped.

but had a few problems like getting here. NOW, with the installation of msie
