Windows Live Messenger query

There is a very, very small upside down arrow underneath the x to close MSN.
Click on arrow to show Menu Bar.
Tools>Options>General>Untick Auto run at Startup>Apply>OK
 
Hi, I am a new user of this. What I would like to know is how I can prevent
it from maximising every time I start up my laptop. I would prefer it to
remain minimised in my system tray ready for me to click on only when I need
it. Many thanks for any suggestions.

In Messenger, open up Tools > Alternatives > General settings. Set Messenger
to open when Windows boots, but don't open the main window. This will only
work if you allow Messenger to start with Windows.
