I have Windows Vista Ultimate, upgrade from XP Pro.

Since installing Vista Windows Live messenger no longer works. It crashes on
login and says Windows will notify of a problem.

Yet I have another machines that came with Vista Ultimate preloaded and Live
Messenger works fine.

Can anyone tell me why this is or how to get a solution?

That does sound unusual, I also as well as many other people are running
Live Messenger with no problems on Vista.

Don't mean to insult you or anything by asking this, but have you tried
uninstalling, restarting and installing live messenger again?

Mine is working but I doesn't seed my webcam, Which button do I have to
push to see my webcam?. In Yahoo messenger I can click on "my webcam" but On
Window live messenger, I either don't know or it doesn't recognize my
webcam.

Dave,

yup,
an upgrade install huh?
betcha had flashplayer installed in xp huh?
and prolly java also.
For Vista-and more importantly for Undead Messenger(well-it ain't "LIVE")
you need to have the latest Adobe Flashplayer 9 installed.
If not, WLM will crash every time.
make sure you uninstall the current flashplayer before you go to install the
newest one from

www.adobe.com

Also, on a side note, in Vista you need Java 6-not Java 5 update 11
like in XP
get it here, not the same page you are used to in XP-

http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp

and pick this one-
Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6
The Java SE Runtime Environment (JRE) allows end-users to run Java
applications.

it's about 1/2 way down the page.

Uninstall it then go to the Live Messenger website, download and
reinstall it.

I experienced the same as you and this cured it for me.
