How do I know if I have Windows Live Mail? I went to my properties on
Windows Mail and could not find this info. If I don't, should I get it.
What is the difference?

As in any Windows program, go to its Help, About...
which tells you the exact name and version number.

DUD! :-) I forgot. It's Windows Mail ver. 6.0.6000.16386. Is it a good
idea to get Windows Live Mail?

You don't *have* to upgrade your Windows Mail to Windows Live Mail,
but with each passing month it becomes less and less compatible.
Windows Mail hasn't been updated since July 2006, and will never
receive any upgrades. The latest Windows OS, Windows 7, won't even
run Windows Mail without resorting to a hack.

Why not give Windows Live Mail a try? If it turns out you don't
like it, merely uninstall it, and everything will be back like it was.

I downloaded Windows Live Mail. There is no icon on my desktop to open it.
All I have is my old Windows Mail icon. This whole thing is making me feel
so stupid. I looked under Programs but all that is there is Windows Mail.

Look under Programs>Windows Live, right click WLM>Send to desktop (create
shortcut).

By the way, did you install it after downloading it?

From http://download.live.com/wlmail you download the installer program,
wlsetup-web.exe
Run the installer program and select the Live products you wish to install.

I went into Programs/Windows Live Mail and put an icon on my desktop. When
I clicked on the icon, Windows Live Mail opened up.
