Hotmail stored your messages on Microsoft servers.

If you use Windows Live Mail to access your other e-mail providers and
newsgroups, are your e-mail messages and your newsgroups messages stored on your
local hard drive or on Microsoft servers?

Email you create on your PC is stored locally. When sent a copy is also
stored online.
Email sent to your hotmail is stored online and downloaded to your desktop.

There is also the microsoft.public.windows.live.mail.desktop NG

Note - newsgroup posts are not stored online - but are stored in what's
called a storage folder on the desktop machine.

I should add this applies to email created in WLM and sent via hotmail.
Other email sent by different email accounts in WLM will not obviously be
stored in WLHotmail. Also the time it takes to sync-up seems variable.

Oh and drafts are synchronized too ;-)

Just noticed that one can force synchronization from the WLM menu.

Thank you

I find it handy as it means I can access my inbox, sent items, and drafts
from anywhere - but can still use a dedicated desktop application at home
rather than a relatively slow and clunky web interface.

I agree the WLM installation is not well thought out and messed stuff up for
me too when I first installed it.
