Hello everybody. I'd like to ask a few questions on the licenses legal
stuff.

Mainly regarding Windows 2000 (sorry I am OT but I can't find the
corresponding NG for W2k) anyway it should be similar to WindowsXP.

If you know a better newsgroup for this stuff, please tell.

-------------------
OEM license:

What do I need to keep in order to be legal?
OEM sticker (attached to the comp.) only? OEM sticker + original CDs?
OEM sticker + original CDs + original invoice (note: I am a private
individual, not a company: usually not legally required to keep
invoices)?

Retail license:

What do I need to keep in order to be legal?
Original COA only? Original CDs + Original COA? Other stuff?

What's the "EULA"? Is it a piece of paper? (other than an abstract
"agreement") At the moment I can't remember having such paper. How is it
made? Should I also keep that one? Does it exist for the OEM?
-------------------

What if I travel with my laptop? Should I bring all that stuff with me?

Can I install the same Windows (1 retail license) in 2 computers, if I
use only 1 at a time?

Can I install the same Windows (OEM/retail) in multiple partitions on
the same computer? (obviously only 1 can be running at a time)

Can I store the installation CD on my HD (e.g. on a laptop) in .iso
format and not bring with me the original CD (but the COA yes), so that
in case I need to reinstall it I can simply burn it to a blank CD-R and
start reinstalling?

Thanks in advance

Go to Start > Run and type: WINVER , and hit enter.
Then click on "End-User License Agreement" for answers.

Each installation of Windows requires it own unique license
or Product Key. You are permitted to install one (1) copy of
Windows on one (1) computer. Each additional installation
requires a new license. You are not permitted to use the same
Windows license on a different computer, even though you
are not using the other one at the time.
