Windows keeps changing my ip address to 169...........

I have windows xp with a dlink 614+ router and Zone alarm security suite. The
router assigns an address of 192.168.0.1 but windows wont let me connect to
the internet. When I look up the address in ZA firewall it says 169........ I
have to ipconfig /release.renew a few times for it to reconnect to the
internet.I have ran virus scans plus spyware scans and my system is clean. I
have also shut down all devices and restarted them but still the problem. Why
is it doing this and how can I fix it. Thanks for your help. Hvy drver

The first thing to do is uninstall (not disable, but uninstall) ZoneAlarm
and see if that solves your problem. I'm betting that it will. If it does,
reinstall ZoneAlarm but be sure that you make the appropriate settings in it
to allow local network traffic to pass through the firewall.
