windows installing message box

I evidently deleted part of a windows program and now I
get these error boxes that read:

header: windows installer
text: preparing to install

however, nothing ever gets installed and this box appears
at the most inconvenient times.

can I download a program that can override my mistake?

I am a non-techy computer person.
