I've been trying to get MSN messenger 6 to work but keep
getting an error message 1601 to do with Windows
Installer as anyone had this problem and sorted it out if
so could you help me

Think I might have found the solution to your problem. The error is probably
a damaged registration service.

Open a command propmt. CMD.EXE

Type msiexec /unregister and press Enter.

Type msiexec /regserver and press Enter.

Worked for me.
