Windows Installer Problem

Hi Y'all,

Problem: Everytime I open an application (as well as certain other things)
the Windows Installer box opens and begins installing something then it goes
away (does not finish whatever it began to install).

I use XP and am an intermediate computer user (I think :o). I just installed
the Windows Installer redis 3.1, rebooted and the problem is still there.

I would be so grateful if someone could help me....sorta soon, too, because
I'm afraid I may just take this machine and throw it out the window!

Also you could try to unregister and re-register Windows Installer:
Click Start, and then click Run.
Type in the Open box: msiexec /unregister and then click OK.
Click Start, and then click Run.
Type in the Open box: msiexec /regserver click OK.
Type commands exactly, including the space between c and /.
This will not affect programs which use Windows Installer that are already
installed.

Hi..
Thanks for the help however, I tried the suggestions you offered (including
MS's) and still have the problem. It did, however, make it faster so when it
pops up now it goes away faster than before but it's still there and is very
irritating.

If you have any other suggestions I would be most grateful for your further
help (or anyone else's!).
