Windows installer patch

I am trying to repair my Office 2000. I am unable to
uninstall it, or reinstall it. I get a message: The patch
package could not be opened. Please verify that the patch
package exists and that you can access it, or contact the
application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows
Installer patch package>
I have been to the Microsoft website, and downloaded and
installed O2KSR1adl,which, as far as I can understand,
should have repaired the problem, and it still won`t work.
Can anyone help me fix this???

Thier is no upgrade or patch for windows installer for XP,you ca
open ADM.,services,start windows installer,or double click,then th
properties will show.

I went into regedit, and deleted all the "patches", and
Click to expand...
was then able to uninstall office. I can now reinstall it,
and get the updates.
