Windows Installer Not Working

We are trying to download itunes 8 and the error box keeps coming up saying
the Windows Installer is either not installed correctly or broken. How do we
fix this?

You could try installing the latest Windows Installer...

Of course - if your current one is broken...

Before you do *anything* - what operating system do you have?
Is it one of these?
Windows Server 2003; Windows Server 2008; Windows Vista; Windows XP

(Assuming you have the last in that list given your choice of posting in a
Windows XP newsgroup.)

Windows XP Home with SP2? Windows XP Professional with SP3? Windows XP
Media Center Edition with SP1a?
