Hi,
I just installed Office 2003 Pro over Office XP Pro.

Now every time I open Outlook after booting up the Windows Installer
notice appears and keeps blinking several times, as if it's trying to
install
something.

It doesn't happen with any other program in Office 2003, just Outlook.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled Office 2003 and the notice keeps appearing.

Once it stops blinking Outlook seems to function normally, but since this
notice
appears every time I open the program, it sure seems like something isn't
quite
right.

Any thoughts???

Hi Dan,

I'm getting a simular issue moving from Office 2003 Beta
to the production release. Unistalled the Beta and then
installed the full version. Now the old beta installer
keeps looking for a file that was on the original Beta
CD's which is gone.

I assum that there is a start up file or registry entry
thats not been cleaned out. Note MS is no longer
supporting Regclean which was my next option.

If you get any more data please ping me.

Finally! Someone is having the same problem I am! Now
maybe it can get some attention.

I am running Windows XP Pro and had Office XP. I
purchased and installed Outlook 2003 thinking, wrongly,
that Business Contact Manager was included in the
standalone version of Outlook 2003.

When I found out that BCM was included in the Small
Business Upgrade suite I purchased and installed the
suite without uninstalling Outlook 2003 standalone.

I went back and uninstalled the standalone and have run
detect and repair.

When I move around in Outlook, and only in Outlook, or
receive an e-mail, the windows installer window pops up
and my floppy drive grinds as is it's looking for a file
there.

I e-mailed MS support regarding this situation and never
received a reply. I may bite the bullet an call paid
tech support.

Folks,

I had placed a request for help at Microsoft Online
Assisted Support regarding this problem but had not gone
back to check the status in a while. I guess I assumed
that they would e-mail me.

Anyway!

Sheila at Microsoft Online Assisted Support posted a long
list of instructions with steps to fix this issue.

It involves going through the registry and deleting a
laundry list of files and then doing a reinstall.

Everything is working fine for me now.

I can only reccomend others do the same.

Happy Thanksgiving

Are MS going to make the solution public? From what I've read many
people are similarly affected by this. I've had a look at
support.microsoft.com and there's nothing on there yet.
