I also had a problem with Veritas backup. I try to apply Veritas patches
thinking that in that way I could fix Veritas but Windos Installer would not
allow me to install nothing, not even the MS Windows Updates. I found a great
advice in a bolletin board that states that the problem is APC software and
the fix is stated below:
Problem could be resolved by just modifying registry keys:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\APCPBESERVER
START value changed to 4 (disabled)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\APCPBEAGENT
START value changed to 4 (disabled)
And reboot the server.
This fixed my problem too, thank you George for your advice.
