Windows Image Acquisition - can I change it?

Just got a Windows XP machine, and when I go to scan, it
uses a different interface than what I am used to, and it
is not very good - does not easily allow you to change
the size of the picture, or other things I am used to
changing. It looks like this is a Windows supplied
engine, and even when I loaded in my Scanner/Printer
software, it still uses the WIA. Is there any way to
change it?
..

Right click on the type file you want to open (JPG?). Go
down to "Open With" and "Choose Program" use the browse
to select the program you want to open that type file
from [one of your scanner viewer?]

Thanks for the tip, but it is not a file that I am trying
to open, but when I go to scan something, it uses the
default WIA scanner engine - which does not seem very
good. I have loaded the Scanner (actually it is a
multifunction printer) sw, but it does not override the
default scanner engine.
