I get the error message 'ie cannot download file, from download.microsoft.com
the operation timed out'.

I also get the more frequent error message 'the connection with server was
reset'.

Other error messages are; 'file could not save because source file could be
read'
After a message telling me successful download, on run install, message
reads 'the installation of this packet failed'.

I am using IE 8 with windows XP professional; SP 3. I use autmatic windows
update.

The problem started on October 9th 2009. I am trying to download from
microsofts download pages and Digital River download page.

Yesterday(October 24th 2009), I tried to download a small file from Trust
Company and had the same problem.

Please help me, I am desperate. Everything was fine for download and upload
proir to the attempt to download an Office application passage from Digital
River, who are MS's default provider for this product download.

Try running Internet Explorer without add-ons, should be a short cut in all
programs>accessories>system. Or you can type iexplore.exe -extoff into the
run command.

If that is successful then you will need to remove add-ons one at a time to
see which is giving you the problem.
