windows icon

Hi

where does the windows save its icon such as recycle bin icon? i think these
are saved in shell32.dll but don't know how to extract it.

and, any free software recommened for icon creation? currently, i'm using
iconart but i don't quite like it

Resource Hacker will allow you to copy out and save icons. I don't do any editing, so can't recommend anything for that purpose.
