Situation: I have a computer used at our site for flight operations. It was
turned on after being off for five days. This is a single-board computer
running W2K, SP4.
The computer booted *very* slowly. They were able to log in, but while
booting into Windows it stopped when it was setting up network mapping. They
did a warm boot (by hitting the reset button), logged in again, and the
computer stopped in the same place. Next, they did a complete power down
and the computer operated normally afterwards.
Our troubleshooting efforts: Found an event 9, "The device:
\Device\ideDeviceP0T0L0, did not respond within the timeout period." and an
event 51, " An error was detected on device \harddisk0\Dro during a paging
operation." in the System event logs.
Ran CHKDSK /r and it found, and fixed 995 security descriptors. No bad
sectors were found.
Question: What is the most likely cause of this error ?? And, how do I
prove that it is working correctly now ??
TIA
