Please I need your help. I installed Windows XP
Professional edition yesterday. It works perfectly except
for the Help. It doesn't appear when I click on it on the
Start Menu or from any other location.

It seems it begins loading the help files but in one or
two seconds the hard drive stops reading and that's all.

What could I do without re-installing Windows? It would
be really annoying to do it again.

Hi there,

Start Menu/Help and Support doesn't work:

Click Start->Run and type "helpctr -regserver" (with out
quotation marks) click OK.

If still no joy, then reinstall Help and Support:

Click Start-> Run and type "C:\Windows\inf" and click OK.

Locate pchealth.inf file and Right-click and choose
install. Have your Windows XP CD handy.

If the above repair does not work:

Go to Start > Run and type in: helpctr -regserver

To reinstall Help and Support:

Go to C:\Windows\inf\pchealth.inf.
Right-click and choose install. Have your XP CD available.

Note: The folder is hidden by default. Go to Start > Run and type in:
control folders. View: Show hidden files and folders and uncheck
"Hide extensions for known file types".
