windows hangs on start

I recently (tried) installed TurboTax Basic and the
installation hung at "installing fonts". Shut down using
Task Mgr and during shut down it complete install. Next
boot, got to wallpaper, no desktop icons appeared and it
hung. Rebooted, & restored to last nights configuration,
same thing. rebooted in safe mode - appears ok. Rebooted
and restored to "last known good point", no good on
reboot. restored to last Thursday safe point, same thing.
It just sits there with the wallpaper and the only thing
that works is task manager. Any ideas?

I have the same problem. My install just locks up and nothing happens.
I shut it down using Task Mngr but nothing is installed. My brother
was able to install it on his computer so we must have something that
conflicts with the install process.
