My laptop which is a Sony Vaio PCG-k23 was working fine until last week
that my windows hanged. I tried to reboot and windows hanged on startup
(when windows xp logo is up and the loading process bar freezed). I
tried to boot in safe mode, and the boot process stopped when it tried
to load atisgkaf.sys driver. I tried the system restore, didn't
work,tried to do the chkdsk and it hanged at %97, tried to repair the
windows using XP setup cd, no luck. I finally formatted the hard drive
and reinstalled the windows. Then I got all the updates and stuff, and
now the same thing happened again!! I don't know what causes the
problem; I've had SP2 for a year with no problem. I did some research
and realized many other people have had the same problem but couldn't
find any solution for it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
