Hi,
My PC fails to boot WINDOWS totaly. It is frozen after having shown the
WINDOWS logo while it
displays the marquees. Blocking is such as that only the key RESET of the
PC makes it possible to
free it. Power ON/OFF has no effect. Additional information: I have 2 OS
( win Xp & Win 2003
Ent ) onto 2 differents drive which presents the same behavior; BUT both
boot correctly in safe mode
with or without network.

Does somebody know how to troubleshoot this phase of the boot in order to
determine what wedges.
I add that NOTHING was modified on HW or SW config since the last time or it
booted successfully.
I think for HW fault. Could somebody give me a clue to troubleshoot this
problem ?
best regards, Jo

Hi Bob,
In safe mode, all seems okay ( none warning seen in "device manager"
applet ). Network is working ! Video (ATI RADEO 7000) is seen as a VGA
640x480. I can choose other values but that hasn't any effect.
Before I open the case of my PC and swap modules, I like to discover exactly
where the bootstrap stops. What action the system is doing that hangs the
PC? Does anyone know how to debug or get information on the bootstrap
process ?

Thanks.

Nothing I know of, that would be available in a failed boot. You may
have a video driver thats hanging.
