We eliminated the Small Business Server from our network and installed
Windows 2003 Server in workgroup. Part of the clients still login with old
userID and domain information. We need to switch Windows Firewall Off, but
this option is grayed.
In general tab (bootm) it say that Firewall is not using domain settings.
In gpedit all option under DOmain and standard profiles are not configured.
How to disable Windows Firewall in this situation?
Thank you in advance,
Raffy

So your users are still logging into the old SBS domain using cached
credentials.
The domain group policies are still in effect.

As you no longer have the domain why not remove the computers from the
domain.
That will fix the issue. Make sure you have a local account you can log onto
on the machine first.

Thank you Mark for your answer. I'm a little be afraid to lose all setting
for that profile. Is there a safe way to copy current profile and apply it
to the workgroup one?

Log on as local admin
Create a local account for the user
Log on as the local user, logoff, reboot

Log on as local admin
Open System Properties -- Advanced--User Profiles
Copy the profile from the domain account to the new local account you
created.
Logoff admin and reboot
Logon as the local user.

Check it is OK

If it is then remove the computer from the domain by joining ti to workgroup

Found this, it has more detail than I want to type here
