Regarding my recent postings, I finally solved the problem or rather
my technician did by taking out the hard drive, backing up my data to
his computer, reinstalling Windoze then copying it back. The machine
isn't working quite the same way it was before but I'm back on-line
and I've just upgraded to AVG7.

If anyone can recommend any anti-Trojan software or a good firewall
please let me know. I'm told download.com is a safe site.

Thanks especially to Dave Lipman, although ultimately your advice
didn't help. your time and effort was much appreciated.

Again, anyone who uses CCLEANER, caveat emptor

This is good for an anti-trojan: http://www.trojanhunter.com/

For a firewall, simple but good, try the freeversion of zone alarm:

You could have missed out the bit between "although" and "help" there :)

though the most intense experience its users will ever confront will
be someone's failure to top up the coffee machine.
