Windows File type properties

Under folder options within windows explorer I have to
modify the confirm open after download option. I have a
script that will carry this out successfully using
sendkey commands. Is there any body out there that knows
of any other method that could be used to carry this out
I have tried to locate the registry value with no success
assistance would be gratefully recieved.
