Hello everyone. i hope this may be my final stop after struggling with this
problem for several weeks already.
some weeks ago i was working on my computer, doing some system cleaning and
i thought about the file checker. so i launch the program to make sure that
everythig was good and right after i launched the program, a window with a
message appeared showing this message: Files that are requires for windows to
run properly must be copied to the DLL cache. insert your Windows XP
Professional Service Pack 2 Cd now.
at the moment i thought it was talking about the Service Pack 2 Cd so i
inserted the Cd in the Cd Tray but it just gave me a "wrong cd" message.
i locate some information about this issue here on microsoft and did just
like it said on the page but it still doing the same thing. this is the page
where i got the instruction on how to deal wih it.
http://support.microsoft.com/k6/897128/en-us
if any of you could help me, i wil be thankfull for ever!!!
thanks in advance everybody!

I know it's confusing, but you are *not* being prompted for the Service
Pack. Rather, you are being prompted for the Windows XP (with SP2)
installation disk. But it's possible to not have to use it if you have
an i386 folder on the root of your C: drive. See:

"How to Use SFC.EXE to Repair System Files"
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/lofiversion/index.php/t43051.html

Out of curiosity, why are you running SFC in the first place?

Also, your link has a typo: instead of k6, it should be kb. In the
future, copying and pasting should be used instead of typing a link.
It's faster, easier, and more accurate!
