I am trying to run sfc.exe or the windows file checker, but it rejects the
WIN2K disk (original) which was used for the installation (I am 99% sure this
was the one). Is it possible that the cause for this is that I have the
service pack installed and therefore require some other disk in order to
allow this utility to run? I need to run it as my system is crashing in some
weird way lately and I am tryng everything I can think of. And what if I am
wrong about the disk and some other disk was used to install WIN2K
originally? It was a long time ago and I am not 100% sure.

It shouldn't matter. Just point to the \i386 directory of your installation
media.
