Hello,
I'm running XP pro and am experiencing connectivity issues with my USB
devices. I'm using an ASUS P4C800E motherboard, which has a USB 2.0 bus,
and I am running the drivers which came on the ASUS cd. I am able to use
USB devices on my computer, but I have to restart the PC to detect them,
whereas, on my old computer, windows detected them the minute they were
plugged in. Is this a known issue, or is it something I have to dig through
my system to fix?
Thanks,
Aru

Although my m/b cd has usb drivers, it always suggests using those that come
with windows service pack 1. Even after updating windows, I usually have to
go to the hardware devices under system applet in control panel and delete
whatever's there before letting xp self-discover and install the usb
devices.
Try accessing the power settings for usb (property of usb hub, via hardware
devices, system applet) and uncheck "let windows turn off to save power"
options.
