Can anyone help me? My computer is quite slow and also the biggest problem is that when I am in windows explorer, it keeps throwing up an error message and booting me out.

I have tried scandisk, but it hasn't come up with any problems.

I have Norton Antivirus 2005 coming some time this week, but I don't think it will help as I don't think it is a virus as I have installed AVG Antivirus package temporarily.

What Error Message

Can you please let us know what error message does it give? Now a days 80% computers with sudden slow computers are infected by some sort of Spyware. There are many Anti Spyware available, which you can use to clean up your system. Some well known names are Adware and Dr. Spyware. Just give them a try and see if they make any difference for you.

AppName: explorer.exe AppVer: 6.0.2600.0 ModName: wzshlex1.dll
ModVer: 4.0.0.0 Offset: 00001100

The Technical version would be too long to post on this forum.

I have Windows XP pro, 240mb Ram, 38gig of memory partitioned, AMD Duron processor 896 mHz

Is it an old computer? When was the last time it was re-installed? How long ago did the error message start appearing? Can you remember installing/deleting/modifying anything around that time?

The computer is about 4 years old, but really it didn't have any problems until I got NTL broadband.
As I mentioned earlier I am getting Norton Antivirus which will have automatic updates for a year, so if it is a virus, then that should sort it. Does Norton search for Spyware? The only thing that I have deleted or modified is the cookies, although I did download limewire?
