When I open windows explorer, it gives an error saying that Windows explorer
doesn't work and then it closes. What can Id do to solve this?

When I go in menu start I want to open a file or folder. It doesn't opens,
but it gives an error saying that windows explorer doesn't work. Then it
closes and gives a solution for this problem. But this update won't install
when I try to. So my problem stays unsolved and windows explorer doesn't work
porperly.

What part of "go to these links and see what details to include in your
next post" didn't you get?

Vista version? Preinstalled or installed by you? Clean or upgrade?
Computer description?
Did this ever work? If so, what changed?
What update?
Exact text of error message?
What have you tried? Done a System Restore yet?

And so on.

If you simply cannot bring yourself to spend the time learning what you
need to tell us - after all this is *free* support given by people who
actually *want* to help you - then take the machine to a local computer
professional. This will not be free but you won't need to do anything
more than point at the machine and say "it isn't working" - which is
basically what you've done in this newsgroup.

I wish you well. EOT for me.

Vista Home Premium, 32-bit version. Installed by someone else but I can't
reach this guy. My pc is a Dell inspiron 1520. The exact words are 'Windows
explorer doesn't work anymore. There is being searched for a solution'. Then
another message 'Windows explorer is being started again'. The solution given
is KB938979. This update doesn't want to instal. It gives an error that it
isn't available for my system. I didn't tryed a system restore yet and I
don't know how to do. I searched for other updates but didn't find one that
could solve my problem. I hope you know now something more and sorry that I'm
not a computer geek.

Thanks for helping.

(sorry for the bad english. I'm a belgian student so normally I speak Dutch)
