Friend tried to help with my computer, erased several of the XP updates. Now
my computer starts up but after signing on to the administrator a window pops
up with message telling me it has experienced a problem and must shut down.
I looked at the details and this is what the error signature lists as the
problem.
AppName:explorer.exe AppVer: 6.0.2800.1221 ModName:kernel32.dll
ModVer:5.1.2600XXXX Offset:0001xxxx.
I can only get the task manager to open.
I have not been able to locate anything that will repair my problem or help
me to diagnois what is missing.
Can any of you help me?
Thanks

I do not have software on CD. Only factory installed. What must I do
now?

Unfortunately, the necessary repair steps require a real operating
system CD. Since you don't have one, you could either borrow one from a
friend that matches your installed version (probably Home Edition OEM)
or take the machine to a professional computer repair shop (not your
local equivalent of BigStoreUSA).
