cannot start windows explorer in "explore" mode using the
explore command. always obtain the "open" mode.
(except : start/programs/accessories/windows explorer -
which open correctly in the "explore" mode)

Do you mean that Explorer doesn't open with the Folders list down the right
side? Does it help to click the Folder button (so the window looks as you
want it to) and go to Windows Explorer, Tools, Folder Options, View and
click Like Current Folder?

yes, always.
when you right-clic on the desktop icon ("poste de
travail" in french language - because I'm a Frenchie,
nobody is perfect !) you must obtain this context menu :
explore/open/find (or search)/manage/system infos.
I can click either "explore" or "open", the windows
explorer always opens as if I've choosed "open".

no changes ! I've tried many times !

One thing that a few people have found to help is to run the Internet
Explorer Fix in Add/Remove Programs.

Oddly enough this problem can be caused by a faulty install of *Internet
Explorer*

Sometimes it happens after installing a patch or Service Pack. is that what
happened to you? Sometimes uninstalling the patch and re-installing it will
work.

Another thing to try, Go to the Windows Explorer shortcut in your Programs.
(Often in Accessories) Right click on it and go to Properties.
What does it say in Target?
Mine says
%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe

Finally there is a registry fix to try if all else fails (but do back up
first)
http://forums.techguy.org/t113867/s.html

Note that it depends on which version of Internet Explorer you are using as
to which fix you use.

A hunt in Google groups for "Windows Explorer" "No Folders" showed that many
people with various versions of Windows have had the same problem.
