Win XP Prop SP3

D drive partition, 150GB with 16GB used.

My friend stores his digital pictures on a second, D Drive. He has a custom
way to dispkay them in the windows explorer folder:

Thumbnails
Align to Grid
Name

Each set of photos starts with the same first characters, e.g. john
birthday - xxx

What he did was"click & drag" sections to open up "white space" between
groupings. This worked just fine for a long period of time. But after 9/15,
windows exlorer bunched all pictures together by name.

It takes a long time to create the "white space" formatting. If he
re-arranges the pictures, how can he set the spacing between groups.

I know this is a custom use of windows explorer.

By default Windows Explorer does not always remember folder views beyond 400
folders. To fix this, change the data for the 'BagMRU Size' value in the
registry at

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell
and at
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNoRoam

I have set mine to 5000 (decimal)

Or, if you prefer, download the tweaks from Kelly's corner
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_abc.htm
click on F in the alphabet, scroll down to Folder Views Keep settings.
Double click on the downloaded file (Increase Folder View options) to effect
the change in the registry.

Note: someone may suggest using TweakUI, but unfortunately there is a bug
and that particular tweak does not work properly, as it has misspelt the
value name.
