Hi I have recently bought an HP Pavillion with Vista home premium.

Suddenly out of nowhere I have this infuriating problem of the "Windows
Explorer not working" error message. It attempts to restart and reloads the
whole desktop. It is persistent and loops back as soon as closed out, making
the machine virtually unusable

I have virus checked and spyware checked and restored from recovery drive D,
and tried all the "Cures" on the forums (usually postings from 2007 or
2008 - no recent postings - am I the only one with the problem? )

I suppose I can get Vista re-installed, but would prefer a fix if its not
too much hassle?

Any one any ideas - wasted a whole day on it so far.

In desperation, and with thanks in advance

Hugh

Possibly a dodgy shell extension. You can view them with this tool ...

ShellExView v1.45 - Shell Extensions Manager
