Windows® XP Troubleshooting
http://www.winhelponline.com
Went out to the web site. As it suggested, I checked out the
Shellex\ContextMenuHandlers
under the AllFilesystemObjects, Directory, and Folders in the Registry.
In each case, no value set. Although subentries below
ContextMenuHandlers
did have values.
I also downloaded the ShellExView software and installed it, ran
it.
Brings up quite a few entries. As the readme.txt file and .htm file
suggest, I'm
going thru the various entries, disabling them one by one, then
right-clicking
a folder in Windows Explorer. So far, no success.
There is a Symantec.Norton.Antivirus entry under the
Folder\Shellex\ContextMenuHandlers
This makes me suspicious. Installing a Norton Antivirus update did cause
me
problems with Outlook Express. That one I had to walk thru with my ISP,
EarthLink, to fix.
I'll keep disabling the entries one-by-one that ShellExView
identifies, and see
if one of them is the villain.
Thank you very much for your suggestions.

Right-click is slow or weird behavior caused by context menu handlers

I have checked the Event Viewer and no entry appears for it.
Any ideas?
