Windows Explorer problems

Terry K.

I'm running Win XP Pro with all the latest updates. My
system is now loading a blue explorer panel on the left
side of my Desktop screen on system startup. My shortcuts
to Win Explorer no longer open on screen, though multiple
copies open (as seen in the Task Mgr, processes tab). How
can I make this gremlin go away and restore the prior
functionality of Windows Explorer? Thanks.

Hi Terry,

For starters:

Remove Common Tasks from the Desktop (Line 15)
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

To use the Regedit: Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it
and answer yes to the import prompt. REG files can be viewed in Notepad by
right clicking on the file and selecting Edit.

As per your latter mention: Close all other windows. Right click its entry
on the taskbar and choose Size. Use the arrow keys to make it the size you
want. Close it that way. Then reopen. If that doesn't help, delete those
shortcuts and create new ones.

Good luck!

Thanks very much Kelly! I'll try out your
recommendations.
