Windows Explorer problem

When I go to open My Documents folder, it opens, but I
also get an error message to say that Windows Explorer has
encountered a problem and has to close down. When I click
either "Send report to Microsoft" or "Don't Send" the
error message goes, but so too does My Documents. (The
folder closes)
If I leave the error message on the screen I can actually
open files in My Documents, but this is not much use with
a big error message window in the way! If I get rid of the
error message everything disappears.
Can anyone advise on how to fix this please.

Geoff,

From: http://www.mvps.org/sramesh2k/IEFAQ.htm
----------------------------------------------------
Applies to Internet Explorer, Windows Explorer, Control Panel [each instance of Explorer]
----------------------------------------------------
When you click the Internet Explorer icon, window may flash a second and quits. Or, it may show an Error-Reporting dialog. This may be due to a malware Browser Helper Object which causes Internet Explorer process to terminate. If you see the Error-Reporting dialog, click "to see what data this report contains" and identify the Module Name causing this error. In most cases, it may be the spyware DLL. Therefore, reinstalling Internet Explorer [in case of a spyware DLL] may not help.

To test with: Disable third-party browser extensions in Internet
Explorer
1. Click Start, Run, and type inetcpl.cpl. [or control inetcpl.cpl]
2. Click the Advanced tab.
3. Under Browsing, clear the Enable third-party browser extensions
(requires restart) check box.
4. Restart Internet Explorer.

Hi Ramesh,
Thank-you very much for replying. But the problem
is to do with Windows Explorer not Internet Explorer. Can
you still help?

The instructions still apply to Windows Explorer, control panel and folders.
