I am having a problem with Vista RC1 build 5600 Windows Explorer not being
able to display control panel, drives, folders, menu folders in start menu,
etc. When I want to display a drive the window comes up and appears to be
stopped before the any of the information is populated and with the cursor in
the desktop the new hour glass is visible after days. There is no title and
window is white. When I want to view the control panel the same. When I open
the start menu all of the applications are visible, but I am unable to drill
down into any folders for applications.
It appears the explorer.com has been corrupted in some manner. I have gone
back and restored the system at various control points with no success. It
was working a week or so. It seemed to fail while or coincedently while I
copying 30 to 50 gb from drive to the C drive.
I have done memory checks, chkdsks, control point restorations with out
success.
I am close to finding out if the reinstall of Vista has a repair
installation similar to Win Xp. I am hoping that I do not have to do that.
Is there anything that I can to fix the problem? Thanks for your help.
