What's wrong..
The toolbars and menu options (gray area) are missing
when I open Windows XP Explorer. (This has been the same
for months...maybe a year)

What's right..
The top line(blue) displays the drive letter such as C:\
The drive contents display correctly in both the right
and left panes.

What I've done..
I've searched XP and MS Help and found no help.
I looked at Folder options, File types, no help found
I just called Microsoft and there is a 40 minute
wait!..so I cancelled the call. very poor help

Thanks for your help,
Paul

P.S This is my first time using newgroups.
Any advice is welcome!

MVP Doug Knox has a small program at his website that will quickly and
easily restore the missing toolbars, menubars and add address bars in
Windows Explorer and Internet Explorer.

Sharon,

Thank you very much for the fix.
I assumed there was a wrong setting somewhere. I looked
and looked everywhere. Glad to hear it wasn't something
I missed.

You didn't miss anything. It's damaged/missing registry keys that cause the
toolbars and menus to go missing. Luckily Doug came up with a fix that
doesn't involve reinstalling the entire operating system. I'm glad to hear
that your windows are all fixed up now.
